Ahimsa which is the core principle requires caution and mindfulness in production, use and disposal of resources. Our scriptures have clearly called out same level of care in disposal of resources as it is required in production and use of resources.

According to a recent report by UN Environment Program, Some 33 billion single-use nappies are estimated to be consumed per year in the EU alone, resulting in around 6.7 million tonnes of waste annually. These numbers continue to rise, with the global nappy market expected to exceed US$ 71 billion by 2022.

Diapers, Nappies and pads’ increasing use leads to solid waste addition. They also causes skin rashes and allergic reaction. Still people use them for comfort.

Diapers and Nappies take hundreds of years for degradation. Human waste mixed with the synthetic fibres in Diapers and pads will take longer time to degrade and become a breeding ground for insects and microorganism

Use cloth nappies and cloth pads which are reusable. A reusable Nappy has considerably lower environmental impacts than single use nappies.
